We wanted to make you aware of an 8/7/2026 communication that was mailed to certain clients as part of a New Hire Waiting Period (NHWP) compliance initiative.

Highmark has identified groups with one or more products that have a non-compliant NHWP. Impacted clients would have received a letter explaining the required action and providing a form to update their waiting period election.

Depending on the current product setup, you will receive one of the following notifications:

• Ancillary products only are non-compliant: If the client’s medical plan has a compliant NHWP but one or more ancillary products do not, the client will be advised that, unless they return the completed form, the NHWP for the non-compliant ancillary products will automatically be updated effective September 1, 2026, to match the compliant medical NHWP.
• Medical, Dental, and/or Vision products are non-compliant: If any medical, dental, and/or vision product has a non-compliant NHWP, the client will be advised that, unless they return the completed form, the NHWP will automatically be updated effective September 1, 2026, to First Day Following 60 Days.

The mailing will include a cover letter, required election form, and instructions for responding. Both election forms are attached below for you to download:
