We want to help ensure our members get the prescription medicines they need, while also helping to control costs. That’s why, effective January 1, 2026, a pharmacy medical necessity policy — originally communicated in October 2025 — was implemented for GLP-1 medications prescribed for non-diabetic, weight loss use for members covered under fully insured Public Sector plans and some ASO plans, at the discretion of the employer.

This reminder is intended to reinforce existing requirements and support groups renewing on or after January 1, 2026, as they come into scope under the same policy.
