Capital Blue Cross offers Medicare plans

Capital Blue Cross offers Group Medicare Retiree benefits. We also offer Individual Medicare benefits. Depending on your clients’ needs, we are here to help. We offer education about Medicare in virtual and live settings to help your clients’ retirees master the maze of Medicare.

COVID-19 vaccines for children

Earlier this month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines can be administered to children six months of age and older. We’ve updated our COVID-19 resource page to reflect the change.

PPO Choice Select update: County availability

PPO Choice Select will be available to groups physically located in Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, and York counties. It has been determined that groups in Adams and Lebanon counties will not be eligible for PPO Choice Select when made available on the following schedule:

• Custom Large ASO groups with effective dates on or after July 1, 2022.
• Small Group ASO, Mid Market, PremierChoice, Custom Large FI, and Small Group PPACA with target effective dates on or after January 1, 2023.

Once PPO Choice Select becomes available to groups in York county, eligible new or renewing groups in York county will no longer have the option to choose PPO Choice as their plan.

PPO Choice will continue to be available to groups in Adams, Berks, and Lancaster counties, as well as to individuals residing in Lancaster county.

Groups in Lebanon county are not eligible for PPO Choice or PPO Choice Select.
 

2022 Underwriting Compliance Guidelines updates

Underwriting Compliance Guidelines have been clarified for Small Business ASO groups that terminate medical and Rx coverage but keep dental and/or vision products. When this happens, the specialty products must be quoted with an insured financial arrangement in the Small Group PPACA or Mid-Market segments.

Be aware that groups will need to sign new rate pages and submit a new group application.

COVID-19 and letters of acknowledgement for members traveling overseas

A member who is planning to travel overseas may require a letter acknowledging they have coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19. When submitting a request for a letter on behalf of a member, please include the following information:

• Member name and those of covered dependents if also traveling (a letter will be created for each)
• Employer group name
• Whether the plan is self-funded or fully insured
• Names of destination countries
